The Modern View

The Modern View presents a total of 20 constructions built in the 1920s and 30s in Saxony. The book wants to tell the stories behind the buildings. It comes with an additional app that allows you to experience these stories illustrated by short video clips through your smartphone or tablet, making it an interactive art book that foregoes specialist jargon in favour of pictures. Ernst Neufert – Peter Neufert

The numerous designs by Ernst Neufert (1900–1986) and his son, Peter Neufert (1925–1999), which ranged from residences to industrial and office buildings, helped define twentieth-century German architecture. Especially influential, was his Bauentwurfslehre, a theory of architectural design that continues to be a standard work to this day.

New National Gallery Berlin
