Bauhaus und die Fotografie.
Zum Neuen Sehen in der Gegenwartskunst
After the opening at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf the exhibition «Bauhaus and Photography: New Vision in Contemporary Art» will be on view at the Museum für Fotografie in Berlin and finally at the Kunsthalle Darmstadt. On the occasion of the centennial program «100 Years of Bauhaus» the curators Prof. Kris Scholz (Faculty of Design, University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt) and Prof. Christoph Schaden (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg GSO) explore how the Bauhaus’ innovations still contribute to the development of photography’s visual language today. The exhibition’s second focus and historical point of departure is the Werkbund exhibition «Film and Photo», which was on view in 1929/30 in the cities of Stuttgart, Berlin, and Zurich, among others. Bauhaus artist László Moholy-Nagy, who was known for his experimental photographic works, curated galleries dedicated to the history and future of photography respectively. A partly physical, partly virtual reconstruction, which has been realized under the direction of Prof. Kai-Uwe Hemken (Kunsthochschule Kassel), enables visitors to experience this part of the historical exhibition.
Opening: Sa / 28.09.19, 19 p.m.

PAULSKIRCHE – A monument under pressure
Frankfurt/Main | Exhibition | till 16.2.2020
In the hope that Frankfurt would become the new German capital, the Paulskirche was rebuilt as a potential seat for the parliament in 1947, having been severely damaged by bombing raids. For this building task of national importance, the „Paulskirche Planning Committee“ created a deliberately sober space that symbolizes the new democratic era.
The exhibition outlines the history of its construction and rebuilding from 1786 to today in parallel with the relevant political and social trends.
